So the boy was a bit nervous about his first baseball game. I don't blame him, I get nervous at new situations too. He kept asking questions, if his coach would be there, if they really bring out the tee if they can't hit the ball, etc. I reassured him that yes, his coaches would be there and if he didn't understand anything he could ask a coach. Yes, they bring out the tee so that everybody gets a chance to hit the ball.
Their team was fielding first, and he was placed at catcher, which was great. With all the backyard tossing we've done, it was no sweat to get the ball back to the coach who was pitching. Plus he worked out a little one-hop system to catch the pitch. (They're just seven, so the game has just a passing resemblance to baseball.)
He was second up to bat, and I knew that this part was what he was nervous about. Think about it. There you stand, all of the other team looking at you. The coach looking at you to pitch the ball. Everybody in the stands looking at you. He missed the first couple of pitches. He has quick bat speed, so he was way early. Then he adjusts, makes a nice level swing, and strokes a frozen rope between the first and second basemen. It was the first ball hit out of the infield in the game and he ended up on third, and the kid on first of course came in.
See, I told him he'd be fine!

Not One of Those Posts
Nope, this will not be one of those posts in which I explain in great detail why I haven't posted in a month. I could do one word though.
Twitter.
Ha! I am indeed having great fun microblogging, and have made some fun friends. Anyways, here goes with what's on tap for the future.
Tomorrow is an epic dinner party, something that we do not do nearly enough. I like having fancy plans to wear fancy pants to.
Fall semester starts Sept. 8, with Statistics. We will get some extra credit though, if we submit articles to
Twitter.
I'm also in the process of reviving Two Sisters Crochet for the crochet season, and making some very nifty new items. Now taking custom orders for Christmas, if anyone is so inclined.
I'm thinking of hosting a craft party here at the house sometime, because it gets kind of lonely crocheting by myself, and now that we have some help with the house, I might not be too appalled to have people come over.
For Halloween we've been invited to another epic party, including neighborhood shenanigans, pumpkin carving, etc.
Then of course there's the trip to NC for the wedding at the end of October. Lots of fun stuff to do and think about. I also have some writing in mind for an upcoming adjudicated shindig later in the year. Maybe because I'm doing a mathish class this term I'll be inclined to write.
This is why you should buy something from Two Sisters Crochet...

Finalist!
The first five finalists of ten were posted on NovelDoctor's site, and my story is one of them!
Evidently there were 35 entries. Five more finalists will be posted tomorrow, and I can't wait to read them. These are really fantastic, and the 200 word format is fascinating--there's got to be a lot conveyed in a brief piece.
First (and only) prize is a $40 gift card and a Santa Yoda. Or is that Yoda Santa?
There can be only one.

Shocking thought of the day
When I eventually go gray will I have to change the name of my blog and my call sign?

Next!
The show closed last night. It'll be interesting to see what the total fundraising picture ended up being. We had a fabulous cast party, too, thanks to the awesome hosts and great company. Once I wake up, (it was a late night), I've got to figure out how to organize my headspace now that the show is not number one priority. I've got papers due, some freelancing to write, and it's yard work season.
But not yet. I won't think about it today. I'll go crazy if I do. I'll think about it tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is another day.

Random Poem--unattributed
One bright day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back-to-back they faced each other,
Drew their swords, and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
Came and killed those two dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true,
Ask the blind man, because he saw it too.
