Most Interesting Non-Fiction

So Margo Jefferson has a book out On Michael Jackson, which, rather than take the car wreck approach, (eeewww....grosss!) attempts to make rational sense of the entity that is Jacko.
For a discussion of the book, and the author's take on what she was doing, see www.slate.com.
Some highlights--the idea that Michael was always about transformation, even earlier than when he turned into a dancing zombie in Thriller--and the idea of the undoing of the megalomaniac unable to top himself.
The interlocutors touch on a topic I'd love to see more of--that Michael Jackson had the talent, and the cred, believe it or not, to follow along with the hip hop current, but missed the wave. Maybe I'll check out the book.
