Quick update on the indie film--I didn't get either of the supporting roles I auditioned for, but I did get cast as a TV Reporter. It's about 2 days of shooting, one exterior, one interior, so that's pretty neat. I'll have to learn how to pile on makeup with a trowel...
The book in our pilot episode of Book Club is "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. When I first started it, I thought it would be hopelessly new age-y and I wouldn't be able to get through it. However, it grew on me. I really like how Tolle pulls from a number of spiritual traditions, and gently. He aims at a cohesive, coherent, inclusive truth that I found appealing. Quite important, I think, is that he's a very good writer.
We reference the next book, "Three Cups of Tea," which has 500 holds on it at the Seattle Public Library, so it's obviously highly popular. I'll see if I can get it on the cheap at a bookstore and take a look, in anticipation of our 26 episode contract that's forthcoming... :o)
Right now I'm starting to read Dashiell Hammett--I have an anthology of Maltese Falcon, Thin Man, and Red Harvest.
Ach, I shouldn't, though, I have lines to memorize...oh, BTW we rehearsed last night on location and it was AWESOME! It's all coming together so nicely! Although my scene partner in my workplace flashback hasn't been cast yet--I hope we get someone really really good.

I've been wondering about "A New Earth". Oprah raves about it, but it's to the point now that she raves TOO much. It has kind of turned me off.
